One of the most successful and consistent bands in the city, the Bakas have a big gig coming up in Germany at the weekend and wanted a warm-up. Who are we to say no to an offer like that?
The original Afro-Celtic fusion, played with considerable verve as well as authenticity – and most importantly they give back to the cultures they reference, having done a lot of work with the Baka people of the Cameroon rainforest, who have a unique feeling for music which has itself – as well as some of its characteristic figures – rubbed off on the freewheeling and infectious dance rhythms of Martin & Su’s compositions.
